Monica and Gyanendra Saved Hearing and speech Impaired woman  Committing Suicide through Video Calling with 14 hours gruelling hard work and exercise of counseling in sign language

          A hearing and speech impaired woman thought of committing suicide and thought of video calling to Monica Purohit the most popular counselor of deaf amongst the country at the last moment .It was late in the night 10pm on 16th March 2018 Monica got video call in sign language when a Deaf woman posted a photo of hanging herself with hanging rope. Monica with her husband Gyanendra Purohit did 14 hours continuous exercise to save this woman. This woman was in Hanumangarh and Monica was in Indore Madhya Pradesh. Through Google search Monica managed to get Police officer number and at last got success in reaching of Police to the woman. Monica until this moment kept continuous touch with this woman and got success in saving this woman.  

Unearthed rapist of a Deaf illiterate Minor Girl by understanding gestures

         Monica Gyanendra helped the Deaf illiterate girl in identifying the rapist by understanding her gestures and got success. This person was a big culprit who regularly uses to molest this girl and uses to supply her many times to other persons and was earning money too. It is due to Monica this rapist was caught.

Reunited Missing Deaf woman with her Family

         Recently Monica Gyanendra Purohit has reunited a Deaf illiterate woman Leela Bai with her family. She has reunited 80 Deaf and physically challenged children and persons with their family. She along with her husband Gyanendra Purohit did counseling of Geeta a Deaf girl who came from Pakistan.

       Monica Gyanendra Purohit is a social worker with a difference. They are striving in the empowerment of Deaf & Differently abled Women and children. She is a State Level Women Coordinator of M.P. Deaf and Differently abled Women and children Police Helpline run by Indore Police in joint conjunction with Anand Service Society. She teaches Deaf and Differently abled Women and children, instill the confidence in them to go out and face the ‘normal’ world, and leave no stone unturned to make their voice heard. Along with imparting knowledge, she with her husband Mr. Gyanendra Purohit also fought for making government officials take notice, and create a model police station that could pay special attention to such differently abled people. It is a rough road, and giving them a voice ruffled a few feathers, which resulted into death threats to her as well. But determined to make a difference, she is moving ahead on the same path. Her mission now is to also provide these differently abled people with entertainment. There was no deaf friendly police station in India where a deaf person may lodge a complaint in sign language. It is due to this unique reason Deaf & Differently abled Women and children friendly police station was been opened on 7september 2002 at Police Station Tukoganj Indore.

With their contentious work after opening of deaf friendly police station. They created a great impact on the deaf & Differently abled Women and children as for the first time Deaf & Differently Women and children got opportunity to lodge their complaint in sign language and gestures which made this community aware that they can also lodge a complaint like a normal person or otherwise if there complaint is lodged in any police station or court will be felicitated with the help of sign language expert like us. The Deaf & Differently abled Women and children community started enjoying like a normal person while watching a movie; it made them humming songs and dialog in sign language. After the opening of police station many victims got justice and culprits were sentenced by court with imprisonment.

The innovation of providing sign language assistance in police stations and courts to the Deaf & Differently Women and children victims is unique in this initiative and the nature of helping in this way itself justifies that it is different.

This initiative is catering the needs of entire deaf and mute population of Madhya Pradesh approx 3lacks. So far in the span of 20Years time it has attended more than 2600 cases. All including police station courts and counseling.

They are also holding the post of Director of a Deaf & Differently abled Women and children Institute working for the upliftment of women and especially abled children under the aegis of Anand Service society. The Institute is running four integrated residential hostels for deaf & Differently Women and children at rural and tribal areas of MP at Dhar, Khandwa, Alirajpur and Indore.

Monica Purohit is the only lady in India  fighting for the justice of Deaf and differently abled girls and women who are been raped and molested with the help of registration of FIR in sign language and through support system at Police stations and at the court. She is been successful in getting life time imprisonment and sentence of Jail to many culprits through court. She prepares the victims mentally and physically to get their case registered and to fetch justice. She is also armoring these girls through self defense training. She has taken the lead by opening the schools and hostels for deaf and mentally challenged girls in tribal and rural areas. She is among the pioneer along with her husband Gyanendra Purohit in seeking the legal recognition for singing the National Anthem "Jan Gan Man" and National song "Vande Matram" in sign language with the help of thy then Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji. She has also initiated the opening of India’s 1st Deaf friendly Police station at Tukognaj Police station Indore. She gives training of sign language and the method of tackling the issues of differently abled girls and women to the Police personnel at Police training College. She also ensured financial inclusion of differently abled girls and women by opening of their saving accounts and by providing them livelihood. To achieve this purpose she initiated in making M P Gramin Bank the 1st Bank in India fully accessible for Deaf and physically challenged girls and women.

She is been honored by Amitabh BacchanJi in his TV Show of Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi on 15 November 2015 along with her Husband Gyanendra Purohit for the selfless service to the deaf community of India.

Honoured by Dr. Subhash Chandra with her husband on his show “The DSC Show” by Zee Entertainment Television aired on 2nd November 2017, speaking about the concept of “Purpose of Life”

Our work incredible initiative has been selected to be part of the National Report on “Documentation & Compilation of the best practices of Sustainable Development as propounded by Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhaya”, a Ministry of Culture, Government of India. A book was unveiled by Honourable Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu ji at Sardar Vallabh Bai Patel Conference Hall, 12 Feb. 2020 Vice President House.

 

She is been honored by President of India recently as 100 women achiever of India. The initiative was jointly launched by union ministry of women and child development in collaboration with face book.
